Health Care Reform
CCLP advocates for long-term, comprehensive state and federal health care reform. CCLP served on Colorado’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Reform (the 208 Commission), and advocated on behalf of Colorado’s low-income and vulnerable populations during the federal health reform debate. CCLP will continue to be active in strategies to successfully implement federal health reform, the Affordable Care Act, which was signed into law on March 23, 2010.
For some of the basics about federal health care reform, review a fact sheet CCLP released shortly after the measure passed.
The framework for our work on health care reform is whether particular policies and strategies keep us on or deviate off the road to reform. The following are four questions that help evaluate whether a policy is on the road to reform:
- Does it increase access?
- Does it improve quality?
- Does it protect vulnerable populations?
- Does it contain costs?
