FACT SHEET: Referendum O Constitutional Initiative modifying the requirements for citizen-initiated ballot measures submitted to voters at subsequent elections

In 2008, the Colorado Legislature passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 003 (SCR 08-003), which referred constitutional Referendum O to the ballot this November where voters will have the opportunity to approve or reject it. The measure, put simply, would modify the requirements to get citizen initiatives onto the ballot in subsequent elections by relaxing them for statutory initiatives and tightening them for constitutional initiatives.
