SCHIP Reauthorization is Important to Colorado’s Children
Thanks to the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), America’s children are more likely to have access to health care services today than they did ten years ago. Despite rising health care costs and the declining availability of employer-based coverage, the overall uninsured rate of low-income children fell by a third between 1997 and 2005. Six million children nationwide and over 48,000 1 children in Colorado can now access the care they need to stay healthy and thrive because of their enrollment in SCHIP.
